What Christmas gift do you buy for the person who has everything? Do you have anyone like that on your shopping list?
Peter puts all Christians in that category. God has given to us everything we need for life and godliness. This erases all of our “if only” arguments.
Imagine the family whose property rested on top of the “Yates Pool” of oil. Before they knew it they may have pinched pennies. But once they knew how much oil they owned they knew they had enough to buy anything they needed.
In relationship with Jesus, we already possess all that we need to live the Christian life. As we grow in our knowledge of God we realize how richly he has blessed us in Christ. Our gloriously good God empowers us to do great things. Now that we know we have everything we need, how shall we live?
Pray with me:
You are such a good Giver. We rejoice in your provision for us. Remind us again of your kindness. Help us to live godly lives using all the good gifts you provide in Christ. We pray in the Name of the One who owns it all. Amen.
