From the Camp Director:
We had a very exciting day this past Tuesday. It was the national day of giving to Non-profits all across the United States. If you use Facebook you would have seen hundreds of non-profits asking for donations. Hanging Rock got into the action. We had a donor that was willing to match gifts up to $1,000 and by 8:30 a.m. that donation had already been matched. We were raising money for a new pool liner which is going to cost $30,000. So, we thought this would give us a good platform to get the word out and raise some much needed funds. Well, I'm very happy to announce we raised $6,022.00. It was a lot of fun to watch the donations come in! We are very blessed with such a great group of people who love the ministry of Hanging Rock! So, Thank You, to all who were a part of this day! We still do not know about the match that Facebook made and how we will benefit from that, but, I will keep you informed.
We have another fundraiser this Sunday with our banquet. Another generous donor has issued a $20,000 match for this day! THAT IS GOING TO BE A BIG CHALLENGE! But, I do believe that our friends of Hanging Rock will do the very best to make this happen. Please keep Sunday in your prayers and even though the banquet is almost sold out, if you would love to give towards that match that would be wonderful. Just click on the match button and donate. Whatever donations we get we will count toward the $20,000.00 match. Just make sure you put match in the memo of your donation.
We all know that God has done great things in our lives, but have we stopped to think deeply about this? God does not choose to be good. Rather, he is good in his essence. Therefore, he is good all the time! Even from the foundation of the world, God knew he would send his son, Jesus Christ, to die for the sins of the whole world. He is eternally good, beyond all time and creation. His goodness does not change, as Hebrews 13:8 says, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
As we move into the Christmas season, let us reflect on the abundant, steadfast love of God our Father. Let us rejoice in his unchanging goodness, the same goodness that sent his only son into our flesh through the Virgin Mary to bear our sin and be our savior. As you probably noticed, the weather is changing, and we are once again approaching that time of year. God has been doing great things this year through his people, It is a great time for meditation. Have you stopped to reflect on how God has worked in your life this year?
The scriptures speak at length of God’s goodness. The Psalmist writes:
For the LORD is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations. (Ps: 100:5 [ESV])
Have a Merry Christmas
