Sweeten your Thanksgiving menu with traditional pies, tarts, and new options such as chocolate cinnamon rugelach from Federation partner, Sunflower Bakery. Thanksgiving ordering opens Tuesday, November 1st. The Thanksgiving pre-order deadline is Thursday, November 17th at noon, with special order pickup locations throughout the DMV area November 20th – 23rd. Advance online ordering is recommended.

How Many Elections Can Israel Handle? Challenges Facing Israel’s Democracy
American University's Center for Israel Studies, Greater Washington Forum on Israeli Arab Issues, and Americans for Ben Gurion University
Haaretz editor-in-chief, Aluf Benn, Federation and Jewish Agency for Israel senior shlicha (Israeli emissary), Gadeer Kamal–Mreeh, and other top Israeli scholars for a series of panel discussions highlighting the fragile state of Israel's democracy, hosted by American University. The conference will be offered both in person and virtually.

Jewish Heritage Night with the Washington Wizards
Gather with fellow Jewish community members for Jewish Heritage Night with the Washington Wizards as the Wizards take on the Oklahoma City Thunder. It will be a night filled with celebration of Jewish culture, including a halftime performance by local Israeli dance groups. Jewish Identity and the American Public Square
Federation and Shalom Hartman Institute
America serves as a robust and evolving marketplace of various identities. How do Jews imagine themselves showing up in American society? Drawing on the Jewish tradition, this session will explore different frameworks for thinking about who Jews want to be in America. Join Yehuda Kurtzer, president of the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America, and Emily Tamkin, author of Bad Jews: A History of American Jewish Politics and Identities and senior U.S. editor of the New Statesman, in conversation with Gil Preuss, Federation CEO, for a critical and timely conversation on the role of Jewish identity in the American public square.

Federation partner, JSSA, offers workshops and group counseling for everyone from LGBTQIA+ teens, parents of teens struggling to cope at school, people experiencing grief and loss, and more. JSSA's services are available in Montgomery County, MD and Northern Virginia.

Everything But the Turkey
A signature program since 1996 of Federation partner Edlavitch DCJCC, Everything But the Turkey, in partnership with DC Central Kitchen, brings together hundreds of volunteers to chop, mix, grate, and prepare thousands of servings of festive Thanksgiving dishes for people experiencing food insecurity and homelessness in the DC area. No cooking experience necessary. This year’s program will be held entirely indoors.
