Astonished!

A Little Good News

In 1983 Anne Murray released ‘A Little Good News’, written by Rory Michael Bourke / Thomas Rocco / Charles Frank Black / Dylan Wray. Here we are, all these years later, and we still could use a little good news today. We hope these stories from Astonished! will be blossoms of good news in your day.

Fully Accessible Washroom

Many of the renovations and upgrades completed over the past year have focused on the University’s ongoing commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. One such project was a complete washroom renovation in the Centre for Kinesiology, Health, and Sport, creating a gender-neutral, wheelchair-accessible washroom/change room to better accommodate the members of The Big Sky Centre for Learning and Being Astonished Inc. as well as the general public.

There is also a fully accessible washroom in the Classroom Building, which is situated on the west side of the campus. The news of the new fully accessible washroom on the east side of campus feels like a special welcome for Astonished! when we can eventually, safely, return to campus. We send a big thank you to Neil Paskewitz, Associate Vice-President (Facilities Management) and all the team that worked to bring this project to fruition

AGM 2020 - 2021

Astonished! held our Annual General Meeting on June 23, 2021 via Zoom. Although we missed being together in person, and catching up with one another over lunch, we were able to celebrate our accomplishments, thank our current Board members, welcome our incoming Board members, and plan for our future. The 2021-2022 AGM will take place on June 21, 2022 at 6:30.  Click here to read the 2020/2021 Annual Report

Summer Literacy 2021

Twelve Astonished! Core Members are meeting, via Zoom, two afternoons a week, for A! Summer Literacy. There are also optional in-person gatherings once a week. They are deep in their summer book, ‘The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving’, and are also exploring financial literacy, health, culture, and creative writing.

July Social Club

We are excited to host our first in-person social club event in 17 months! We will be having a tie-dye and splatter paint party in Candy Cane Park on Friday July 30, 2021.

Of course, even though restrictions are lifting, A! Staff/Volunteers will still be masked, and Core Members will be encouraged to wear masks, especially if within 6 feet of others.

Thank you City of Regina | Municipal Government for the Social Development Grant, which partially funds our monthly Astonished! Social Club event!

Kristyn White

We are looking forward to developing a research project with Kristyn White. In the coming months she will be spending time with us to get to know us and have conversations. From there she will work on content and then schedule the series. It will be part of a research project for interested A! Core Members.
