Walsh University Announces 2023 Commencement Speaker and Honorary Degrees

Walsh University is pleased to announce His Grace, Archbishop Bashar Matti Warda, CSsR, of Erbil, Iraq, will deliver the 2023 Commencement Address during graduation exercises on Saturday, May 6, 2023. During the commencement ceremonies, Archbishop Warda will be presented with an Honorary Doctorate of Theology for his lifetime achievements. Walsh University will also present an Honorary Doctorate of Business to Roger DeVille, a 1965 alumnus and namesake of the DeVille School of Business. DeVille School of Business Team Wins CFA Institute Research Challenge

Walsh University recently won first place in the 2023 CFA Institute Research Challenge hosted by the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Society of Cleveland. The team representing Walsh’s DeVille School of Business beat out five finalists including Kent State, Bowling Green, John Carroll and Baldwin Wallace, and is now preparing to compete in the regional competition in April in Chicago. Each year, teams of three to five undergraduate and graduate students commit upwards of 200 hours to preparing and competing in a comprehensive and applied case study competition. Team members representing finance and accounting majors include Jessie Varnis, Cameron Gregory, Megan Maxim, Oskar Johannessen and Lucas Jorstad as well as academic advisor Dr. James Falter and industry advisor Nicholas Perini. Education for Life Colloquium Series: In the Image and Likeness, Set for March 23

The next topic in the Education for Life Colloquium Series: In the Image and Likeness, will be led by Rabbi David Komerofsky, Temple Israel, Canton, and Dr. Chris Seeman, Chair of Theology, Walsh University on March 23, at 6 p.m., in Barrette Business and Community Center. In this interfaith lecture, Jewish and Christian interpretations of humanity’s creation in the image of God are explored and their relevance to contemporary issues is considered. The Education for Life Colloquium, sponsored by the Wilkof and Nolan families, offers free public programming on a variety of topics related to Walsh University's mission. Click Here

Campus Updates & Shout-Outs

A farewell reception for Bryan Badar, Vice President for Student Affairs, to thank him for his dedication and service to Walsh University, will be held today, March 1, from 3-5 p.m., in the David Center Atrium. Dessert will be served.

painting created through the collaboration of Black Student Union and Art Club

This painting was created through the collaboration of Black Student Union and Art Club to honor black heritage and culture. It was unveiled and presented as a gift to Walsh University during Soul Food Sunday, a Black History Month event attended by more than 200 guests.

Campus Ministry's annual women's retreat took place earlier this month at a beautifully furnished cabin at Lake Milton with 23 Walsh University students in attendance.  It was a joy-filled weekend of prayer, fun, and fellowship!
