Breaking News from the Capitol

Yesterday, State Senator Kerry Donovan introduced a bill to recognize "Public Lands Day" in Colorado: SB 16-021.  Help us support  and celebrate the incredible public lands where we love to play!

Mapping Workshops in Telluride & Ouray

Save the dates - February 10 & 11 - for outdoor recreation mapping workshops in Southwest Colorado.  In order to advocate for human-powered recreation, BSI is partnering with Outdoor Alliance to gather mapping data and inform land managers about important recreational assets throughout Colorado.

Land & Water Conservation Fund Re-Authorized

With the passage of the omnibus federal spending packet in December, the Land and Water Conservation Fund was re-authorized for three additional years.  The 50-year-old program has expired in October and advocates worked hard to renew this important conservation funding source which supports public land aquisition and parks programs.

Rio Grande National Forest Planning - Assessment Reports

As part of the on-giong Forest Plan Revision, the Rio Grande NF is releasing resource assessments that evaluate the existing conditions of the forest, identify possible future conditions, and describe trends of the social, economic, and ecological systems within the plan area.  Topics include:  Recreation  |  Wilderness & Special Designated Areas  |  Fish, Wildlife & Rare Plants  |  And many more.  Check out the full list online...
