Walsh University Announces New Leadership for Board of Directors |
Walsh University is pleased to announce new leadership for its Board of Directors, effective July 1, 2025. Barbara Yingling ’92, ’96, a retired healthcare executive and longtime community leader, has been elected Chair for a two-year term, while Bruce Altieri ’82, a seasoned business leader and Board member since 2019, will serve as Vice-Chair for one year. Both bring deep commitment to Walsh’s Catholic mission and will help advance the University’s Walsh 4.0 strategic plan focused on innovation, growth, and excellence. Joining them is newly appointed Director, the Honorable Robert F. Behler, a retired U.S. Air Force Major General and cybersecurity expert. Help Us Welcome the Class of 2029 – Orientation Day, Friday June 6 |
Let’s rally together to show our Cavalier pride and warmly welcome over 90 of the 370+ incoming students and families to our first summer orientation on Friday, June 6! The day begins with prayer and continues with orientation sessions designed to ease the transition into college life. Students will participate in a Cav Nation resource fair and meet with various departments including financial Aid, IT, and academic support services throughout the day. Walsh University continues its podcast series Cav Chats: Beyond the Classroom, now available on Spotify. In this episode, Walsh University’s VP for Marketing and Public Affairs Teresa Fox sits down with Dr. Nick Morris, Faculty Director of the Blouin Scholars Program, to explore how students are engaging in multi-year research grounded in Catholic Social Teaching. Dr. Morris shares how the most recent cohort to travel around Lake Erie last month is focused on studying the intersection of education and poverty.
Through immersive travel and community-based research, the Blouin Scholars Program challenges students from all majors to think critically, act with purpose, and become leaders committed to social justice. The episode is available on YouTube and other streaming platforms as well.

Walsh University Professor to Lead Free Plant Walk at Great Trail Golf Course |
Walsh University biology professor and botanist Dr. Jennifer Clevinger will lead a free plant walk hosted by the Minerva Area Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, June 10, at 10:30 a.m. The walk will take place at Great Trail Golf Course, 10154 Great Trail Drive in Minerva, and will explore the diverse plant life found in the course’s various habitats.
Participants should meet in the gravel lot near the #18 green by the clubhouse. To find the meeting spot, drive to the end of the parking lot, turn left, and continue to the gravel area. For more information, contact the Minerva Chamber office at 330-868-7979 or denise.freeland@minervachamber.org
