Director of Utilities & Energy
|
Steve Mital has been appointed as the permanent director of Utilities & Energy, effective May 1, 2024. Steve has served well as the interim director and I believe he is the right person to maintain the current upward trajectory of U&E. A special thank you to Rick & Paul for their leadership contributions these past 4+ years.
Steve brings a unique ability to foster teamwork and collaboration. I look for him to continue to build bridges between U&E and the rest of CPFM, as well as with our campus partners and customers. Steve will remain the director of Sustainability and will be sorting out how to delegate some of those responsibilities in order to take on the leadership of U&E. - Mike Harwood, AVP

A friendly reminder, due to a future development project at the Romania site, all units with storage and functions in the Romania Building must vacate by August 31, 2024. If you are planning to remove boxes or items from Romania storage yourself, Liz and the Campus Planning team highly recommend bringing a dolly or a hand truck, although a chair will work in a pinch.

Project teams for the Housing Next Generation and 13th Avenue Schematic Design projects hosted open houses at the Ford Alumni Center and EMU, respectively. Owner's representatives from Design and Construction (George Bleekman, Janell Cottam, Martina Oxoby, and Luke Helm) and Campus Planning staff (Emily Eng, Liz Thorstenson, and Aaron Olsen) joined the design teams to engage with campus and community members to share information and listen to feedback regarding these exciting projects. Both open houses had a good turn out of people interested in the projects.

Nick was kind enough to meet with our clinic staff, Tyler, and myself to clarify custodial expectations of the space. Nick was a great listener and helped the clinic staff better understand expectations. It was a clarifying meeting and all parties left happy.
Nick was fantastic and I appreciate his support. Thanks - Eric Owens

Thank you so much for your last minute help with the poster standards today! They were delivered super fast, the students have plenty of time to set up now before their presentations, and everything is running super smoothly.
I appreciate it so much. -Nika Jin

| After long appreciating Jeff (Ziglinski), and how responsive, helpful, efficient, and kind he is, I am finally taking time to pass along my kudos.
He said he was fortunate that he had the time to wrangle my request, but honestly, Jeff always makes the time.
His job keeps him very busy. I see him running around all the time, working to get things done; yet he prioritizes other people and helping them complete their to-do lists with friendliness and humility. - Thanks, Sandi Henley
