Salute Safety Management System Update
The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) department would like to inform you that the Salute Safety Management System will be deactivated on September 14, 2025.
Based on valuable feedback from our community, we are excited to share that we are actively working on developing a new, enhanced Safety Management System (SMS). This upgraded platform will be more robust and better aligned with our mission to foster a sustainable safety culture while supporting the ongoing advancement of academic, research, healthcare, and community initiatives.
Here is what EH&S is doing to ensure a smooth transition to the new system.
Current SMS Data
EH&S will maintain backups of all existing data, including laboratory registrations, chemical and equipment inventories, inspection results, etc., and will be importing this information into the new Safety Management System, once released.
In the meantime, SMS users can contact EH&S if they need any information from the current Salute Safety Management System, such as lab registrations, inspection reports, inventories, or other records.
For data requests or questions, please contact:

- Hazardous Waste - Email: Hazwaste@stonybrook.edu
- Radiation Safety - Email: RadiationSafety@stonybrook.edu

Safety Training
As previously announced, all EH&S safety training has transitioned to Brightspace, Stony Brook University's official Learning Management System. This change enhances integration with university systems, including PeopleSoft, and in the future, WolfieONE.
We appreciate your patience during this transition and we will share more details on the launch of the new safety system soon.
Sincerely,
Gary Kaczmarczyk
