Member Spotlight: Lisa Akers 🚀💪 |
Littleton YMCA member Lisa Akers is a chief engineer on the Orion program at Lockheed Martin — yes, the team that just sent astronauts to the moon. She spent the mission in Mission Control, helping ensure everything ran smoothly (no big deal). After 19 years on Orion, she and her team are already gearing up for the next launch: Artemis III.
Lisa started weight training at the Y a few years ago and says the strength and resilience she's built since then help her keep up with the fast pace of her space engineering work. She gives a big shout-out to Group Fitness Instructor Susan Kennedy for getting her started and keeping her motivated!
Here's to supporting each other — as we all reach for the stars.
