From the Desk of
Dr.Bloomfield:
BREATHE
The beginning of each year is filled with so many forces: new students, new teachers, new classes. What will the new rules be? Who is on my bus? Who has changed the most from last year? We have so much on our minds that we tend to settle quickly into a rhythm or pattern just to keep moving forwards.
Here, one month into the school year, I want to advise us all to pause and take a breath. If we do,we’ll look around and see really interesting classes in the sciences, geometry, literature, and art; we’ll hear children drilling one another on flashcards and preparing to argue against misogyny in the ancient world; we’ll watch them throw themselves wholeheartedly into soccer games and cross-country meets. We’ll hear joyful singing, see happy dancing, and enjoy growing friendships.
It may not be the most scholastic quote I’ll mention all year, but I think of the words of Ferris Bueller: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” Let’s all commit to not missing our daily lives together as Academy community members.

The Cornucopia Auction is a parent-organized social evening for parents and friends of the school! We need your help to make it a success! Here's how you can get involved:
It's not too late to donate an auction item- the online donation form remains open. You may also download a form here.
Are you willing to make a batch of small “one bite wonders” of savories or sweets? We serve delicious food at the auction, and your contributions are welcome. Please contact Ann Hallenbeck, Food Committee Coordinator by October 31,for details.
Might you take a shift in the kitchen during the event or with clean up at the end? We still need help to run the event. Contact Phoebe Walker with your interest or for questions about what's needed.
Thank you in advance for your support of the auction. We look forward to seeing you at this wonderful event on November 7th (child care will be available - details to come)!
