De La Salle Families,
As we enter into our Easter/Spring Break, we would like to update all of our families as we prepare for the final weeks of the school year.
Request to be considered for Group 4 (four days per week on campus)
On March 19th and March 20th, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) respectively updated their recommendations for classroom spacing. As a result, we will be able to move more desks and tables into our classrooms, which means we will also be able to welcome more students on campus four days a week.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY:
Please fill out the Request to be Considered for Group 4 Status no later than Monday, April 12th. Please note that G4 is a special waiver to return to campus four days a week, and you only need to fill it out if you want to switch your son’s cohort. Additionally, please note that even if a G4 status is confirmed, some classes may be at capacity, and your son will have to go to a designated site on campus to attend that course as a virtual student. We will have an efficient, safe, and equitable system to manage any student overflow. G4 is only available through this special waiver.
The new G4 status requests will go into effect Monday, April 19th, as the week of April 12-16 will allow us to adjust all classrooms with teacher direction and will provide an additional week with six feet spacing after Easter Break.
Also note that we will continue to contact trace, and because we are shortening the spaces between desks/tables, we may have more direct contacts if there is a positive case.
We will continue to study the guidance from the CDPH that will be released on April 1, 2021 (a reminder we remain in the Red Tier). While there was no change regarding spectators for youth sports, we were happy to see guidelines being released regarding Graduation. Mr. Aliotti will be sending more information out to senior parents at a later date.
Travel information for Spring Break
Knowing that there will be a great deal more travel over Spring Break, we want to remind all families that the CDPH strongly recommends that if a family travels more than 120 miles from their place of residence, that they should quarantine for 10 days. Please see the latest California Department of Public Health (CDPH) travel guidance here.
COVID Vaccines Now Available for 16 and Up
We also want to call your attention to the fact that Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) updated its website today to announce that it has opened vaccine eligibility to people 16 years of age and older. For more information, visit the CCHS website.
As we enter the most holy days of the liturgical calendar, we take to time pray and reflect that we are Easter people! We come from darkness to the light – rejoicing that death no longer has any power over us.
On behalf of De La Salle High School, we wish you and your family a Happy Easter!
