Dear Friends of the Y,
The Board of Directors approved a strategic plan to guide the organization for the next five years, with a vision to expand existing services and reach more people in more neighborhoods. This plan reflects the YMCA's commitment to inclusion and improving the quality of physical, mental, social, and spiritual life for all members of the community. More information about the plan can be found through the provided link.
The YMCA of Greater Long Beach expresses gratitude to volunteer and staff leadership for exceeding fundraising goals and setting a new record of over $1.5M in contributions. Association Campaign Chair, Lisa Meier, volunteers and staff are congratulated for the time, dedication, and personal resources they contributed to make the YMCA a welcoming and inclusive place for all to participate and strengthen the community.

We are excited about a new partnership with the Long Beach Unified School District that will provide outdoor education to 4,400 fifth graders at YMCA Camp Oakes. This experience will not only serve as a special culmination activity for the students' elementary education but also introduce them to the YMCA, ensuring they have access to its programs and services at every stage of life.

CHARTING OUR JOURNEY TOGETHER!
Led by dedicated volunteers at our seven YMCA branches, this year’s Annual Campaign raised over $1.5M. Many thanks to the Board of Directors' campaign leaders Lisa Meier, Sue Baker, Bob Murrin, Sue Nunn, Kevin Peterson and Mark Guillen.
The theme for the YMCA of Greater Long Beach's 2023 Annual Campaign was "Charting our Journey Together," which aligned with the beginning of the Y's new strategic plan. Branch Campaign Chairs, Board of Directors Campaign Leadership, and all volunteers worked exceptionally hard to lead their sections and achieve a record-breaking amount of over $1.5 million. The YMCA expresses gratitude for the generosity of every donor, and looks forward to using these funds to insure that all who seek out the Y are able to access it.

Splash into Spring!
The YMCA is celebrating the successful completion of SPLASH WEEK, a free water- safety and basic swimming skills program for children with little or no swim experience. Over 600 children participated in the five-day program, which taught fundamental life-saving water safety skills.
The YMCA is a national leader in water safety and our Long Beach Y is committed to providing drowning prevention classes to as many children as possible. Through private and group swim lessons, the YMCA aims to teach over 8,000 youth how to swim this year.
