MCSS Postdoctoral Fellowship Opening
|
|
|
MCSS is hiring a postdoctoral fellow in the broad field of space sciences. We welcome applicants with interests in Astromaterials, Cosmochemistry, or Meteoritics; Experimental, Theoretical, or Observational Astrophysics; Planetary Science; Particle and Nuclear Physics, Cosmology and Gravitation; and Earth as a Planet. In their application materials, the candidate should describe their research interests and list potential collaborators from among the faculty fellows of the MCSS.

The Department of Physics has started a weekly "Scribe & Vibe" for students, postdocs, and faculty to work on their scientific publications. The first 5-15 min are used for brief discussions. The rest is reserved for writing.
The sessions meet on Mondays, 2:30-4:00pm, in Compton 340. Drinks and snacks are offered. All MCSS members are invited to participate.

What should the top science priorities be for the first human explorers on the surface of Mars? At the request of NASA, the National Academies is undertaking a study to identify key science campaigns to be addressed by human missions to Mars, including the types of samples to be collected and preliminary criteria for landing site selection.
