Greetings from NESA!

Just like that it's almost March! Time has sure flown by this year and here at NESA we are so happy to have been able to start the new year off with hosting a two-part winter season for our members. How great to have not had to contend with disruptions, facility closures or newly developed complicated rules needing interpretation! While we continue to navigate through a worldwide pandemic and unpredictable and inconsistent weather, having our activities return and the ability to reunite with our friends and community has been something we are all grateful for.
Though much uncertainty remains about the current pandemic situation, we remain hopeful that we're moving towards safer and more enjoyable times together.
As always, The North Edmonton Seniors Association remains committed in reporting to you the most up to date news and information that impacts your scheduled activities at the centre. Please ensure to check the website on a regular basis for more updates as the pandemic situation evolves.

Covid-19 Update: City and Provincial Update

On February 9, 2022 the Government of Alberta announced its three-stage plan for the easing of public health measures as the province begins to transition into a full reopening. The first stage was the immediate removal of Restrictions Exemption Program.
On March 1, 2022 the second stage is in effect which includes the removal of most masking requirements, select health screening activities and school restrictions, along with the lifting of all indoor and outdoor gatherings limits.
The timeline for Alberta entering the third stage has yet to be determined and will depend on province-wide hospitalization rates.
Though the City of Edmonton does not have the legal authority to enforce former provincial public health orders, they do have the authority to enforce infractions related to the municipal Temporary Mandatory Face Coverings Bylaw.
The City of Edmonton's Temporary Mandatory Face Coverings Bylaw continues to remain in place and requires all individuals 2 years of age and older to wear a face covering in Edmonton's indoor public spaces and public vehicles until further notice.
Visit the City of Edmonton's website by clicking here for more information what is happening in our city.

Mask wearing continues at NESA

As confirmed by the CIty of Edmonton, mask-wearing in public facilities including NESA remains in effect until further notice (with the exception to when eating and drinking and during approved physical activities where the mask can be removed temporarily).
As advised by Alberta Health Services, when in public, ensure that your mask is:
Above the nose, fully covering the mouth, and under the chin.
Please note that face shields are not approved face coverings.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our community safe.
