Daroonparvar Named ARA Scholar |
Congratulations to Dr. Mohammadreza Daroonparvar, assistant professor of materials engineering, on his recently announced induction as an Arkansas Research Alliance Innovation Scholar, A-State's first. He and two other individuals were recruited to the state by their universities and selected for the ARA Academy on the basis of their research contributions to economic growth areas vital to Arkansas’ success, especially the rapidly expanding advanced steel manufacturing. Daroonparvar earned his Ph.D. in 2013.

| Harris and Steele Lead Special Day |
Dr. Kari Harris (left), director, Student Research and Scholarship, and Molly Alexander Steele (right) executive director, Research Development, were co-leaders for the first Arkansas Liberal Arts and Humanities Day at the State Capitol. They had 19 presentations from six state institutions for state legislators, including a performance by the A-State Concert Choir, directed by Dr. Ryan Sullivan. Dr. Jill Simons helped organize A-State's participation.

Ruccio Receives Assessment Award |
The Accreditation and Assessment Committee has selected Dr. Kristen Ruccio, associate professor of English, to receive an Award of Excellence in Student Learning Assessment. Her assessment work as director of first-year writing has led the program to evolve, making it more interdisciplinary and more clearly applicable to the workforce landscape. She has also used assessment findings to plan and spearhead programming with an increased emphasis on technical writing and STEM genres.

| Shollenbarger and Gatling Present |
Dr. Amy Shollenbarger (left), professor of communication disorders, and Lori Gatling (right), assistant professor of nursing, presented a poster on their preliminary investigation into nurses’ knowledge of stuttering at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) centennial year national conference in Washington. Additionally, Master of Communication Disorders (MCD) students Allisyn Converse and Madyson Hufstedler each presented research from their graduate theses.

Dry is Panelist for Library Session |
Eric R. Dry, assistant systems librarian, Ellis Library, joined a panel of Tennessee librarians at the TnLA Academic Libraries Roundtable virtual conference. Dry contributed to the discussion on advocating for the library in Faculty Senate. The panelists shared strategies for ensuring libraries have a voice in influential spaces. By comparing experiences across institutions, the discussion highlighted practical approaches to advocating for libraries within campus governance.
