TRAVEL & YOUR VISA: ALWAYS CHECK YOUR VISA END DATE
If you are traveling internationally, you will need a valid, unexpired visa in order to enter the US (except for Canadian citizens). Please make sure to review your visa expiration date and plan accordingly. Traveling after your visa expires? The Department of State has estimated appointment wait times
available online to help you plan your trip and visa renewal. Some of these times can be lengthy, so make sure to plan accordingly.

J-1/J-2 REMINDERS
In 2023, new regulations began allowing ISEO to issue DS-2019s via email, with electronic signatures from scholar advisors. Scholars should print the emailed DS-2019 and sign their copy in ink. These DS-2019s are acceptable during travel and at visa appointments.

|
|
H-1B REMINDERS
When planning any H-1B request, including changes of status, ports, and extensions, please be sure to let us know any travel plans you may have, even if they are tentative. This is important for us to advise you properly, and to make sure your transition or extension goes smoothly.

| iWORKSHOP: COMPLETING FEDERAL TAX FORM 8843 |
February 27, 2024 | 12:00PM - 1:00PM
|
This workshop is for all F students and J Exchange Visitors who were present inside the U.S. for at least one day during the prior tax year in F or J status, are Nonresident Aliens for federal tax purposes, AND have no U.S. source income. If you meet all three of these conditions, your only U.S. federal tax filing obligation is completing the Form 8843 (dependents must file this form as well). The workshop will review tax filing obligations, tax residency determination, and then proceed step-by-step in filling out the Form 8843 from both an F/J student perspective and a J scholar perspective.
