Welcome Back!

As we begin the start of a new academic year, the Office of Student Veterans wants to extend a warm welcome back to campus. The start of the Fall 2021 semester is a great time to become reacquainted with familiar faces of friends and faculty and begin to make new acquaintances. For those returning to Duke, we are glad to have you back as you continue your academic journey.
For new students just beginning at Duke, we are eager to introduce you to our military-affiliated community. Be encouraged to connect with our office, graduate assistant, or other members you meet throughout the year.

Recent Events in Afghanistan

We know that many of you are watching the current situation in Afghanistan unfold with mixed and powerful emotions. We want to ensure you that we share your sadness and grief surrounding it. Duke has on-campus and virtual resources for mental health that can be accessed at any time. Please do not hesitate to contact the Duke Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) by either downloading the Blue Devils Care App or by calling the front desk at (919) 660-1000 between the hours of 8:00AM and 5:00PM.*
*Only students who have paid the Duke Student Health fee are eligible for CAPS and Telehealth services through Blue Devils Care. If you are a student that has not paid the health services fee, you may contact DukeReach for support in locating a provider.

Office of Student Veterans Events

The Student Veteran Open House will take place on Thursday, 26 August from 1600-1800 in the Dean of Students Office (300 Crowell, East Campus). This event will allow you to meet our campus partners and fellow student veterans, as well as the opportunity to pick up plenty of Student Veteran gear and swag.

Additionally, we would also love to see you, your partner, and your children for our fall Opening Hail on Saturday, 11 September from 1400-1600. The event will be located at Hi-Wire Brewing in Durham, NC. Please come out and join us as we welcome the new academic year!

We Need Your Voice

This is an unprecedented time. Still, the student veteran and military-affiliated community experience is of great importance to our office. The new academic year is a chance for all of us to create and contribute to a welcoming community that embraces student veterans and military-affiliated members across campus.
As we creatively respond to changing circumstances, we want to know your Fall 2021/Spring 2022 programming and newsletter preferences so that we can focus on what matters most to you.

Office Hours

The Office of Student Veterans will hold office hours each Monday from 10:00AM-2:00PM and Friday from 10:00AM-2:00PM
