February 2020

Register for a Special Valentine's Day Group Wedding Before February 11th!
As I shared last month, my office will host a group wedding ceremony on Valentine's Day this year. The ceremony will be held in the jury room on the first floor of the downtown Orlando courthouse. We anticipate up to 30 couples will come together to say their vows on Friday, February 14 at 1:00 p.m.
There is still time to register if you'd like to be part of the group wedding event. Participation will cost $50, and will entitle you and your future spouse to a commemorative certificate, complimentary wedding photos, and a special gift as part of the package. For further details, you can click here to learn more on my website.

Extra Access Hours on Select Saturdays Starting March 7
In order to provide more convenient hours for you, my office will open two of our branches on select Saturdays once each quarter beginning in March.

The Winter Park and Ocoee branches will be open for services such as marriage licenses and ceremonies, passports and payments on the following Saturdays:

Saturday, March 7, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Saturday, May 2, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Saturday, August 1, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Saturday, November 7, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

After seeing how successful our Passport Saturdays have been in years past, I wanted to expand the idea to allow customers the option of accessing our services on select Saturdays. We know it can be a challenge to get time away from work or take your children out of school, so this is another option to make doing business with my office easier.

The Winter Park and Ocoee branches will be the only locations open for the extra Saturday hours.
Strategic Plan: My Office's 2020 Vision
To kick off the new decade, my staff and I are gearing up for 2020 and beyond with a new strategic plan to elevate the Clerk's Office over the next 3 years.
Find out what objectives we plan to focus on by watching our video below.

Avoid Tax Season Lines
Every year through April, many of my office's lobbies fill with customers who are using their tax refunds to pay off their balances. While we do our best to keep the lines moving, you might experience a wait during this time. However, there are multiple options to choose from that may keep you from having to stand in line.
For instance, customers can pay their traffic ticket online 24 hours a day and seven days a week at my eClerk. Click below for an overview of other options that may save you a trip to one of our offices.

Sign Up for E-Notify to Receive Case Reminders
Last month, I shared information about E-Notify. I wanted to inform you that the E-Notify program expanded statewide on January 31. This new program notifies registered users about court events, like hearing dates, electronically via text or email.
E-Notify currently is limited to criminal felony, misdemeanor, and traffic cases.

You can sign up for e-notifications or learn more at enotify.flcourts.org.
Employee Spotlight: Cammis
You may have seen my staff's friendly faces at the front counters, spoken with helpful individuals on the phone, visited our website, or perhaps attended court and witnessed our trial clerks in action. But do you know what employees at the Clerk's Office really do each day?
We produced a video series to provide a behind-the-scenes look at what it's like to work at the Clerk's Office through my staff's eyes. Each month, I will highlight one employee spotlight video. This month, a trial clerk named Cammis shares her story about working in the Traffic division.
February Star Performer
Congratulations to Brenda Hodge, our Star Performer for the month of February. Brenda is a senior deputy clerk on the Jail team. Teammates say she shows superior customer service on a daily basis.

"Brenda continuously solves problems for our customers and assists in all areas of the office whenever needed, without complaint or hesitation," said a colleague. "She has excellent work ethic. She is passionate about her job and all of her peers and co-workers look up to her."
