Welcome Grow Serve Celebrate

Thank you to all the families and friends of Parkway Hills UMC.You have welcomed me with your prayers, your gifts and your time, and I have appreciated getting to know you all the past few weeks. I look forward to our time together spent in ministry and fellowship.

Looking forward to Sunday, we have a lot in store. Promotion Sunday will be this Sunday, Aug. 7. Sunday Schools will meet at 9:30 a.m. in the Garden Room before meeting in the new classes. This Sunday's sermon will focus on getting your lamps and hearts ready and grounded in God for the new beginnings in our lives. During the worship service, Kindergarten and third graders will receive Bibles, and we will have a special time for prayer over teachers and students for the new school year.

The fun continues Sunday evening with the following events:

The Children's Ministry waves goodbye to summer and hello to the new school year with a pool party at the Club@Township from 4 - 6 p.m. 5th graders and under are invited and snacks will be provided.

The Youth Ministry dances their way into the new school year from
4:30- 6:30 p.m. at the Youth Kickoff Black Light Party! Refreshments will be served.

Students are asked to bring canned goods to benefit MadCAAP and their relief work.

Children's Ministry Water Activities

The PHUMC Children's Ministry had a blast splashing through the waters and welcoming Pastor Haven to the PHUMC family. From the shore lines of Reunion Beach with the older elementary age to taking on the Lil Kahuna on the PHUMC lawn with the Kindergarten and Pre-K ages, our children know how to welcome others to the waters! We look forward to our fall semester with new ministry opportunities and fellowship.

Immediately following the August 21 worship service there will be a light lunch and volunteer information meeting in the Garden Room for Children's Ministry current and new volunteers. We plan to cover the many ways one can volunteer in this department - so all volunteers are welcome! We hope to see many new faces there to encourage and assist in the formation of our children's faith at PHUMC as we begin a new chapter.

This meeting will also cover the multiple ways to volunteer and assist in the fall calendar events, Sunday School rotations and curriculum, Extended Session Worship rotations and formation and more.

Come and hear all the various ways you can be a presence in the lives of our PHUMC kids. RSVP with Rev. Haven at haven@parkwayhillsumc.org.

If you have a used laptop you don't need, Lisa Shelby in our congregation needs one for one of her college children.You can let Linda in the church office know.

SERVE Thank you to all who gave to our June communion offering to support the Habitat for Humanity 2022 Women Build. Thank you for giving our $1000 sponsorship, which will assist the McIntyre family in purchasing a safe, decent, affordable home with a zero interest, thirty-year mortgage. Saturday, August 13 from 7:45 until noon, we will go help build to make this home a reality! We have 9 people signed up so far to work. We need an additional 3 volunteers to cover this shift. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. Those under 18 must have a signed waiver from their parent/guardian to participate. Signup with Pastor Dawn or let her know if you have any questions.

PHUMC Youth

Parents and youth are invited to fellowship together and share about the coming year at our annual back to school kickoff meeting on August 14, 5:30-7:30 pm. Light dinner will be served.
