UNO Hosts 400 For 2024 ASCE Gulf Coast Student Symposium |

The University of New Orleans played host to the 2024 Gulf Coast American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Student Symposium for civil engineering students from 15 universities in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama on March 7-9. It was the first time UNO has hosted the event since 2010, said Gianna Cothren, UNO professor of civil engineering and ASCE faculty adviser.

Engineering Professor and His Graduate Student Receive Prestigious Award |
Gazi Raihan, a graduate student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of New Orleans, and his supervisor professor Uttam Chakravarty were awarded the prestigious Global Impact Paper Award at the 2024 ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE), in recognition of their groundbreaking research on “Structural Analysis of 3D Printed Polymeric Auxetic Metamaterial.”

Professor Ting Wang Receives Fluid Machinery Design Award |
Mechanical engineering professor Ting Wang recently received the Fluid Machinery Design Award from the Fluid Engineering Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering. This award is given to an individual demonstrating excellence in the design of machinery that involves significant fluid mechanics principles and which benefits mankind as exemplified by product use within the past decade.
