Radford Welcome Weeks event: Join the Highlander Float on Aug. 31 |

The Radford University Department of Student Recreation and Wellness invites all University students, employees and families to join the annual Highlander Float on Sunday, Aug. 31, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Arrival by 2 p.m. is required since the float can last up to one hour, depending on the river current.

Part of the Radford Welcome Weeks series of events, this fun activity allows you to glide down the New River with friends, laughter and inflatables. Tubes and flotation devices are provided.
Participants can park in Lot Z near the Dedmon Center to check in and enjoy an afternoon of fun. Shuttles will depart for the launch site every 15 minutes. Remember to wear shoes you don’t mind getting dirty and bring a dry bag for personal items. After floating, stick around for food, music and a water slide.

You’re invited: A Conversation with Charlie Brouwer |
|
|
Radford University President Bret Danilowicz and First Lady Kay Danilowicz, in partnership with the Radford University Art Museum and the Public Art Committee, cordially invite the entire Highlander community to “A Conversation with Charlie Brouwer” on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Performance Hub in the Artis Center for Adaptive Innovation and Creativity. The event will consist of an artist talk from 3:30-4:15 p.m., followed by a reception from 4:15-5:30 p.m.
Participants will have the opportunity to meet the artist and celebrate Radford University’s newest public art installation of his sculptures.

OURS Student Seed Grant: Supporting early-stage student research and creative inquiry projects |
The Radford University Office of Undergraduate Research (OURS) has announced the creation of a new way to support student-faculty research across campus in all disciplines. The OURS Student Seed Grant provides up to $500 to help undergraduate students launch new research projects. This small grant is designed to help students take those first steps exploring a new creative idea.
Any Radford University student in Radford or Roanoke working on a new mentored undergraduate research project can apply.
Funding must follow guidelines for the use of E&G funds and can be used in a variety of ways, including:

- Project supplies or materials
- Research-related travel
- Software or access fees
- Equipment not available elsewhere on campus
|
Note: These grants are not intended for existing projects, conference travel or class assignments.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, starting at the end of August. OURS will continue reviewing until all available funds are awarded or until Feb. 28, 2026.

Save the dates for Socials at Selu this fall |
|
|
All Radford University employees are invited to come together for Socials at Selu events this fall at the Selu Conservancy. These monthly employee socials will feature snacks, non-alcoholic beverages and live music. A cash bar will be available.

Mid-day Music series returns |
|
|
The Mid-day Music series of free informal lunchtime concerts returns on Wednesday, Sept. 3, from 12:15-12:45 p.m. in the Artis Center atrium. Erica Sipes will perform a piano set entitled “Singing through the Piano.” Bring a lunch and your Highlander friends and enjoy something unique. Everyone is invited.
