Upcoming Holiday Hours
Monday, September 4All Boulder Public Library locations will be closed for the Labor Day holiday
Good Bad Public Art Show
This fun, fast-paced program will help us get the pulse of our community's preferences and expectations of public art. What makes a piece of public art good? Or bad? And whose opinion matters when it comes to what works for art in public places? A panel of experts will be at the center of the conversation as we look at slides of murals and public art from around the country. Audience members will participate in a live voting process using real-time polling clickers! Please RSVP  to rsvp@boulderlibrary.org.

BLDG 61 Teen Maker Camps = fun, success!
The Main Library BLDG 61 Makerspace held a couple of teen camps this summer--with resounding success and fun for the participants!
A maker camp in late June with Maker-in-Residence Emma Hardy constructed costumes out of recycled materials, mounted them, and held a final celebratory parade through the library and onto the Pearl Street Mall. One teen commented: "This was the best week of the summer!"
Last week, teens learned how to program microcomputers to operate the animated projects they designed as part of the "Build. Learn. Design. Grow" apprenticeship. The teens created a variety of different projects: a sun orbiting planets, flower opening and closing, a spinning Christmas tree, a touch sensor glove, and a new type of voting machine. BLDG 61 will be offering another apprenticeship this fall. To learn more, visit the BLDG 61 website.

Echo by Pam Munoz Ryan
"What a well-woven tale! This WWII-era middle-grade kids book follows three characters--Friedrich in Germany, Mike in Pennsylvania, and Ivy in California--and the magic harmonica that binds them together. It was a Newbery Honor book in 2016."
--Keely, Meadows Branch and Main Library
Overheard at BPL...
"We had fun at Craft Storyclub on Thursday morning as we talked about what does and does not belong in the bathtub. Llamas were a 'NO' and mermaids were a 'YES.'"  -- Keely, Meadows Branch Library
"A family came to the George Reynolds Branch Library and came straight to the desk. The mother said,'We've been on a 2 1/2-week road trip, but the kids won't let us go home until we stop here and check in for summer reading!' Both children had finished the program and were so excited to get their flashlights and free books."  -- Stella, Reynolds Branch Library
