The devastation of the earthquake in Nepal has caught the world’s attention. News outlets are sharing the sad stories of destruction and death. In past years the Cumberland Presbyterian Church had a missionary that worked in Nepal, she moved back to her home in Hong Kong months ago and no longer resides in Nepal. She does have friends and connections in Nepal as a result of her years of ministry in that country. Leaders in Hong Kong Presbytery are requesting prayer for those in Nepal. Churches there are collecting donations that can be used to help. The missionary that once served in Nepal is helping Cumberland Presbyterians in Hong Kong know how best to use those donations. If you would like to give to help with the needs in Nepal, the Missions Ministry Team is receiving donations. Please send your donations to the Missions Ministry Team, marked (memo) for Nepal Relief. We will explore with Hong Kong Presbytery what their plans are as to the funds they are raising and see if we can partner with them. We will also look to one of our long time partners, Church World Services, and explore partnering with them to meet needs in Nepal. We will report on the use of those funds once we send them.
