New Research Opportunity for Bowen Students
A new, first-of-its-kind, project at Bowen connects law review students with firms and judges on issues impacting state courts.
The project came about when J.D. Gingerich, the director of the State Courts Partnership, became a staff member for the NCSC committee responsible for this work. When he was asked about additional research assistance, he immediately thought of Bowen students. He and Dean Beiner approached the law review, which selected two existing non-editorial board members for the project.
The cases Bowen students are currently monitoring focus on a series of federal court lawsuits challenging state court e-filing systems and the timing of access to documents that are filed. To date, there are cases pending in approximately 20 states. The students are tracking appeals to federal appellate courts throughout the United States.
