School Safety Update from Dean Adams
Dear Students and Parents,
Good afternoon. I trust this message finds you doing well and that the first few weeks of school have gotten off to a good start. One of the most important responsibilities I have as the Dean of Students, is to work with students, faculty, staff and parents on school safety initiatives. We adhere to a state mandated schedule of emergency drills and reinforce our actions with communication on expectations should these drills become a necessary reality.
I appreciate students arriving at school each day with their IDs on and entering and exiting each day out of the designated area. It is important that we do our best to control who enters our building, including guests, during the school day and equally important outside of school hours.
I would like to take this opportunity to share with you the expectations for students on campus before and after school.
- The school day begins at 8:30 a.m. Students may arrive no earlier than 7:30 a.m. and head to the cafeteria until classes begin unless they are here for a scheduled activity such as a practice, meeting, or activity.
- The school day ends at 3:20 p.m. and if students do not have an after school scheduled meeting, activity, practice, or game they must be picked up by 4:30 p.m.
- For students with scheduled activities, you should report directly to your designated area after school.
- If you have an event that is not scheduled until after 4:30 p.m. and are not able to leave campus, then students must wait in the gym lobby until the scheduled activity begins. Students do have access to the restroom, but will not be permitted in other areas of the building.
Please talk to your students about their time after school. They should expect to be asked to relocate should they be in other areas after school hours. Thank you for doing your part in keeping our campus safe. Should you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me at
badams@brebeuf.org or 317.524.7157.
Sincerely,
Brenda Adams
Dean of Students
