Family Fright Night and Haunted Trail on Friday; Event Expanded to Include Activities and Food Truck at Dakota Lodge

The annual Halloween Haunted Trail event has been expanded this year! The family-friendly event will be Friday, Oct. 24 from 5-8 p.m. First, come to Dakota Lodge to play spooky games, enter the costume contest, paint a pumpkin, and learn about some creepy creatures that are associated with Halloween. There will even be a food truck called El Toro the Tot. Then take the shuttle to Bradford Park (leaves every 20 minutes) to trick-or-treat at some animal homes throughout the red rocks. After the walk, gather at the Bradford amphitheater for hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows. This fun family Halloween event is for all ages. The cost for residents is $10 per adult, $8 per youth or $30 for a family of four.  Register Online for Course No. 29286 or by calling 303-979-4070.

Hablamos Espanol: 6th-8th Grade Fiesta Workshops

Time for a party! Team up with our skilled Spanish teacher, Carol Edwards, for five weeks of Spanish fun on Wednesdays from Nov. 5 through Dec. 10 (no program Nov. 26) from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Ranch House. Students will practice their Spanish while making yummy party snacks, creating table centerpieces, and sending holiday invitations by text. All Spanish-speaking abilities are welcome! The five-week class fee for residents is $115 and $120 for non-residents. See the Program Flyer for more details. Register for Course No. 29782 online or by calling 303-979-4070.

New Historical Videos About John Shaffer

After a well-received premiere at the KCR100 celebration, which honored 100 years since John Shaffer purchased the land that is now Ken-Caryl Ranch, two videos about Shaffer’s life are now available online. The videos are narrated by Shaffer’s great-granddaughter, Darla Shaffer, and produced by the Ken-Caryl Ranch Historical Society. They may be viewed on the new Historical Videos page on our website. One video provides a short biography of Shaffer’s life, beginning with his early years in Baltimore, Maryland, until his death in Evanston, Illinois, in 1943. The second video features Shaffer’s experiences when living at the Manor House, his summer home on the Ranch. Each video is approximately seven minutes in length.

Committee Volunteers Needed

Committees are an important part of the administration of the Master Association. Applications are currently being accepted for committee appointments. If you’re interested in helping your community, please apply to serve on one of the Master Association's committees: Architectural, Community Planning, Covenants, Election, Finance, Historical Society or Open Space. Fill out the Committee Application and return it by Friday, Nov. 7. Returning committee members (with the exception of the Historical Society) must reapply annually for committee membership. To learn more about committees, see the Committees & Task Forces page.
