Who doesn't enjoy a nice hike? Consider bypassing the most popular trails and choose an alternative hiking destination or a quieter trail. Not only will you appreciate having the trail to yourself, you also won’t be contributing to the stresses some natural areas face from overcrowding. Other ideas include staying on the trail without shortcutting, bringing your own snacks in reusable containers, and using eco-friendly bug spray and sunscreen. Be aware of your impact and let the wildlife live peacefully. Hiking sustainably is all about embracing your surroundings, respecting the environment and its inhabitants, and leaving no trace.
