Weathervane Issue 2: CCM's Digital Magzine
Weathervane is the official digital magazine of the Division of Communication and Creative Media, fully produced by students and faculty under the direction of Kim MacQueen, Managing Editor of the Champlain College Publishing Initiative (CCPI) and CCM Dean Paula Willoquet-Maricondi.
Weathervane features news stories and profiles showcasing CCM students, faculty, and alumni. It celebrates the talent and achievements of the CCM Division to our campus and broader communities of alumni, parents, industry partners, and CCM supporters.

After being part of many missions in Afghanistan, Mitch had another mission in mind - to help his fellow veterans successfully find their way back to civilian life. His solution - Grunts Move Junk - a business which would hire veterans, give them their first job stateside and help them on their way. Yes, they will move your junk, but they do so much more, and they do it with a crispness of execution that reflects military pride and tradition and results in great service and happy customers. Appreciative Inquiry Practitioner Certification Program offered by
The David L. Cooperrider Center for Appreciative Inquiry

Designed by Appreciative Inquiry co-originator Dr. David Cooperrider and AI thought-leader Dr. Lindsey Godwin, this program presents a proven approach to accelerating organizational change by showing how to focus on and leverage the core strengths of any organizational system. 

Part 1: Foundations of Appreciative Inquiry
  • Date: November 14-16, 2016
  • Location: George Mason University (Fairfax, VA)- Hosted by The Center for the Advancement of Well-Being and George Mason University Life
  • Description: A highly interactive three-day course that lays the groundwork for understanding how and why AI works, and exploring ways to use AI in your own organization.
Part II: Appreciative Applications Fieldwork
  • Date: November 2016 - May 2017
  • Location: Virtual
  • Description: Through periodic internet-mediated sessions, coaching and conference calls with Center faculty and global AI-thought leaders, you will create a portfolio of personalized AI applications.
    Part III: Appreciative Inquiry Capstone
    • Date: May 1-3, 2017
    • Location: George Mason University (Fairfax, VA)- Hosted by The Center for the Advancement of Well-Being and George Mason University Life
    • Description: A culminating learning experience where you will share your lessons and insights and explore not only best practices, but also future trends in the field of positive organization development and change.
    Through a combination of coursework and fieldwork, learn how and why Appreciative Inquiry works, explore the power of questions to seed positive change in any situation and discover how to engage others in the change process for lasting results. By working on an application project specific to your own organization, you will have the opportunity to create positive change that bridges high ideals with a results-oriented mindset.     Champlain College will be hosting a Mock Interview Day. This event will prepare students for real-life interviews by giving them a 30 minute time slot for a "mock interview" and a 15 minute debrief period, where the facilitators will give students tips on how to improve their interview skills for the future.

    EMC At BTV International Airport
    'Flight' and 'Graffiniti' at the BTV Airport
    The launch of two new interactive experiences at the Burlington International Airport created by students at the Champlain College Emergent Media Center and the Sandbox Team was celebrated this month. Among the speakers, Gene Richards, Director of the airport, Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger, President Don Laackman, VP of Finance and Advancement David Provost and Game Programming student James Keats '18. Look for media coverage on ABC 22 and Fox 44, NBC5, WAMC Public Radio and Seven Days.     Emergent Media Center Celebrates 10 Years!
    Champlain College Emergent Media Center Director and Associate Dean Ann DeMarle took center stage at the Career Collaborative’s inaugural Fall Career Conference to launch a year-long campaign celebrating the 10th anniversary of the EMC.
    “We’ve done a lot in the past ten years. And we are celebrating this entire year – online and in person – collecting the wisdom of our community on the topics of high impact learning, career innovation, and future technologies”, said DeMarle.
