With the holiday season well underway and the strangest year in living memory almost behind us (we got this!), I wanted to take a moment to offer my salutations to the CASL family (students, staff, faculty, alumni, and supporters) and to wish you all the best new year ever. I hope that you are feeling well and that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. The college is, fortunately, finishing the fall term strongly, with few cases of COVID impacting our community.
Celebrating Graduates
Molly DeWyse and Brandon Klein have been recognized as CASL's two Chancellor's Medallion recipients for this semester. Faculty choose recipients based on academic records, quality of character, vitality, intellect and integrity. Read about their accomplishments!
CASL faculty, students and alumni are involved in a variety of
classes, research, activities and philanthropy,
and are making an impact locally, regionally and nationally.

The Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) alumni group wants to give a warm welcome to our graduating seniors, but they need your help.
Through 12/20, we're asking fellow alumni to share your words of wisdom or messages of congratulations on social media with #UMDearbornGOLD2020. If you'd like to learn more about GOLD, fill out their interest form.

When many students graduated in 2008, they didn’t know it would be during one of the toughest economic recessions seen in a long time. Graduates did finally land jobs, but not without some defining job search and career lessons. Join us for a transparent conversation with three Michigan grads from UM-Flint, UM-Dearborn, and UM-Ann Arbor from that time to learn from their job search and career experience and go even further than they did in your professional journey.

Your Gifts to CASL Change Student Lives
During this time of uncertainty and transition, your gifts to the CASL Annual Fund will continue to support CASL student success. In fact, your investment in CASL students is more important than ever.
For example, your gifts will make it possible for CASL students to participate in internships and undergraduate research. These experiences will be delivered virtually and remotely until it is safe for students to return to campus or internship sites, and will also prepare students to learn and work in whatever ways the future requires. Thank you for being an everyday hero for CASL students!
Here is a quote from a CASL student who was able to participate in an internship with support and inspiration from people like you:

"In order to make a change in the world I aspire to be a federal court judge. I have such a love for the community and different cultures...Currently, I am obtaining my bachelor’s degree in political science, with a minor in criminal justice. I intend to graduate in 2023 and continue my education in law school. Through my internship experience, I am learning what I want to do in life. Especially during this difficult time, my life is being redefined, showing me the goodness in society. You have only added to my love and connection to the Dearborn community and beyond. Receiving this scholarship has motivated me to continue my degree and make a change in the world. I thank you for your willingness to contribute to my academic career and goals in life."
