This week, I would like to highlight an upcoming opportunity for members of our community to reflect on the call to leadership through service. On Tuesday, April 21, the University will host its Fourteenth Annual Servant Leadership Day, a celebration of Seton Hall’s commitment to forming students as servant leaders in a global society.
|
Organized by the Center for Vocation and Servant Leadership and the Office of Mission and Ministry, the program invites faculty, staff, administrators, and students to engage more deeply with the principles and practice of servant leadership that are central to our Catholic mission.
|
This year’s keynote presentation, “Leadership and the Gift of Self,” will take place from 4 – 5 p.m. in the Chancellor’s Suite, Student Center (lower level). During the talk, President Monsignor Joseph R. Reilly, S.T.L., Ph.D. will reflect on leadership rooted in the example of Jesus Christ and invite members of the University community to consider how the pattern of the Paschal Mystery calls each of us to embrace lives of generous service.

| The Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) |
As faculty, you are the eyes and ears of our campus. If you notice a student struggling academically, emotionally or behaviorally, the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) is here to help.
|
What we do? The BIT is a supportive, cross-functional team that coordinates resources for students in distress. Our goal is early intervention and to connect students with Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and other supports before a situation reaches a crisis point.
|
- Significant changes in mood, hygiene, or class attendance.
- Disturbing content in assignments or outbursts in class.
- A general "gut feeling" that a student needs more help than you can provide alone.

| Help Sread the Word: 24-Hour Hackathon |
Faculty and staff are encouraged to share information with students about the 2026 Seton Hall Hackathon, a 24-hour innovation event where students collaborate in teams to solve real-world challenges and pitch their ideas to industry judges. Open to students of all majors and skill levels—including those with no coding experience. The event also features workshops and prizes such as iPads, Mac minis and cash awards. Learn more.

| Japan Week Begins March 23 |
This annual event offers the campus community an opportunity to engage with Japanese culture while demonstrating the University's ongoing commitment to building bridges between cultures and bringing together people of different customs, religions and ethnic backgrounds. Through a series of programs and activities, Japan Week seeks to continue to promote diversity and unity and hopes that participants will become leaders in a flourishing dialogue between Japan and the United States and will work towards building a more peaceful global community. Sign up today – instructions are available here. You can transfer your scholarship between ORCID, Digital Measures, HeinOnline, Scopus or Google Scholar with a simple text file. Understanding the Post-Award Process: Workshop Recording
|
Are you a faculty member who has received a grant? Watch the Post-Award Workshop to learn about the post-award phase in grant-seeking. The workshop describes implementing the grant, reporting progress, and completing the closeout requirements. Topics include types of awards, understanding the requirements of the award, expenditures, reporting, time and effort, monitoring subawards, travel, equipment and No Cost Extension (NCE). The workshop was presented in conjunction with the Grants Accounting office (GAO) and Corporate, Foundation and Relations (CFR).

A Conversation with Cardinal Tobin
Tomorrow, Cardinal Joseph Tobin will be on campus from 3:30–4:45 p.m. in the Event Room of the University Center for a special talk exploring the legacy passed on from Pope Francis to Pope Leo XIII and its continuing significance for the Church and the world today. Following the talk, Cardinal Tobin will celebrate Mass at 5 p.m. in the Immaculate Conception (Main) Chapel. We look forward to seeing you there. Read more here.

Talent Show – This Week!
The 15th Annual Faculty Talent show
will be held on Thursday, March 19, from 6 – 9 p.m., in the University Center’s Event Lounge. It will feature performances by faculty, staff and students. Admission to the show is free; donations will be collected during the evening with all proceeds going to support DOVE’s annual student service trip to El Salvador.

Abstract and Event Submission Open: Petersheim Academic Exposition

Students, faculty and administrators are invited to submit abstracts for the 30th Petersheim Academic Exposition, a week-long celebration of scholarly achievement across the Seton Hall community. Please help us spread the word among students—including that presenting at the Expo offers eligibility for a Student Travel Award to support presentation at a conference.
