Picture Perfect Visit

Our Memorial Day cookout has passed and July is just around the corner...why not come down for a visit? Speaking of visits, Colleen and I were recently at the vineyard for a couple of weeks and it was stunning. The rooms there have been recently renovated and are beautiful. We are hoping to add a few more rooms in the not too distant future. If you ever get out this way check out Cambria. I've been told it's an artist community...it sure looks it.  Let's catch up on the properties...

A California Facelift
Have you seen our new rooms? We’ve had a very busy winter pulling out carpet and doing some updating. Of course, there is always an ongoing project in the hotel business but we think you will love the new look of the Bed and Breakfast! Stay tuned for much more to come. In addition to the new rooms, we have also added Ryan out here. He came to visit the farm and Elizabeth let all of the air out of his tires so now he’s stuck for at least the summer working on the farm and in the B&B. Come out and say hi, we’d love to see some familiar faces!
There’s also a lot going on this summer in sunny California, new wineries, live outdoor music and more. Speaking of, Pomar Junction has left the station and Fableist has pulled in. Meet our newest neighbor in California. They will still hold Trainwreck Fridays so be sure to check it out if you plan to be here on a Friday. There are a lot of bands and it’s only a mile down the road. It’s also that time of year again for 20th Annual Templeton Concerts in the Park. Right down the street. The summer concert series starts this week. Every Thursday there will be music, wine & food. It’s a great time for the whole family!

How about a visit to Schooner’s Wharf on the west coast?
No relation to the one in Key West, as far as I can tell. This restaurant also offers live outdoor music at the beach. It’s located in Cayucos which is a very cool, low key California beach town only about a 35/40 minute drive away. Check them out here.

Featured Winery

Le Cuvier
Le Cuvier is one of my favorite vineyards here in Paso, and for many reasons. All the wines are organic. The grapes are dry farmed then left undisturbed while fermenting without any added sulfites so the wine can do its magic. I love Le Cuvier wines but also the experience. When you go, they do each taste with a prepared culinary bite and it dramatically changes the flavor profile of the wine! I would encourage making a reservation because they like to educate the guests and give a more comprehensive experience. They only taste a limited number of people at a time, that way you can get all the information about the wines and everyone has a truly personal and memorable experience.
Our Picks
This month we are focusing on a smaller charity called Jack Academy. The charity was started by two sisters, Janet & Sharon. I know Janet personally and she is an amazing lady. Their charity focuses on children in Ghana which has a very big problem with the child slave trade. Many families are forced to give up their kids because they can no longer feed them. The children are in turn forced into a shocking life of brutality. They have developed a school in Ghana and are currently helping countless children by the day.
Music Picks and General Musings
Lately, I've been listening to "Yo La Tengo is Murdering the Classics" from 2006.  They are all covers from hits from the past. Everything from 'Tighten Up' to 'Route 66' to 'Let the Good Times Roll'. They are off key but I love covers and I love Yo La Tengo.  John Mayall is always a good listen. The $4 I spent to see John in Lansing and the $2.50 to see Van Morrison in Flint gives you an idea how long I've been hanging around. Get a little music in your day...can't go wrong.
Shawn, a friend in Cali, turned me on to a company in San Diego called potluckexpo.com. I purchased a vape cartridge of CBD, CBN & CBG oil. They are Cannabinoids from the hemp plant...not the Cannabis plant...no buzz here. There are over a hundred Cannabinoids or full spectrum and with all the new research amazing things are being found out about them. CBN is one of the better known and is very helpful in making one sleepy at night. It can also be purchased as oil in a coconut oil base. Colleen and I are heading to Asheville for July...maybe we will see you at The Princess Anne for happy hour?  Have a great summer.

See you soon,
Mike, Elizabeth, Jocelyn, Fatima, Sam, and Ryan & staff
