Spring Intermediate Citizenship Classes

Citizenship classes start this week! We are offering both Zoom and in-person options.

• Classes are free
• Classes run from April 15 through June 13
• Classes use intermediate English

New Writing Class

The new writing class starts this week! If you are an intermediate or advanced student who is looking to work on their writing skills, please consider signing up.

Each week we will cover a specific aspect of writing (sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, active vs. passive voice, punctuation, conjunctions, articles). We will also practice a variety of writing skills (summarizing, paragraphs, thesis statements, personal and business letters, descriptions, emails). Success depends on active participation.

What's Your Story?

What are your stories? Every year, Literacy Volunteers publishes a book of student writing called The Joy of Writing.

One thing to remember is that you can choose what you want to write about. Want to make up a story? Want to write a poem? Want to tell about your life? We want to hear it!

Please speak with your tutor if this is something you are interested in.

Latino Families Living With Diabetes

The Latino Health Initiative of University of Virginia has many free events this April. All events are offered in Spanish.
