In Brief

Verizon Smart Campus Competition: And the Winners Are…

It began on October 9th with 198 students registering and 33 teams formed, all competing for a chance to be one of three teams to win $3,000 and present their inventive 5G-powered solutions to a campus, community or societal challenge to Verizon leadership at the company’s headquarters in Basking Ridge, NJ.

The final round took place on March 5, with seven remaining teams putting months of work into a series of superlative presentations that left Verizon and NJIT administrators astounded and made the prospect of choosing just three winners almost impossible.

Congratulations to the three teams:

Highlanders 4 Highlanders: Ada Wong, Emilie Inzinna-Enriquez, Mia Karpowicz

HOP: Ray Sama, Ishaan Manoj, Muhammad Musa, Christopher Lamothe, Saad Salman, Abhin Gandhi

Decibel: Anirudh Krishna Ramkumar, Srinesh Selvaraj, Parth Kabaria, Yash Parlikar, Darren Bonifacio, Vikaas Dindigal

Next Up: The Winner's Circle at Verizon Headquarters on March 26th. Some teams may even receive additional opportunities to further develop their ideas with Verizon!

Game on!

The International Game Developers Association NJIT student chapter had a wide variety of participants and 12 new games submitted to "jam" on. Due to the large number of submissions, the showcase required two GBMs to demonstrate them all - and that count doesn't include games that were worked on but went unfinished.

YWCC February Open House
