GVSU Childcare at YMCA Welcome back, Laker! Let's Talk by Counseling Center

  1. We hope everyone had a great summer! To everyone who is new to GVSU, welcome to the beginning of your journey as a Laker. And to those returning, welcome back. Let's have a great semester! Get involved on campus, check out some events to attend here

  2. All graduate students beginning a thesis in the Fall 2023 semester or enrolled in a 695/795 course are required to attend one Project, Thesis, and Dissertation Workshop. The Graduate School will be hosting four workshops this semester, two in person and two online. The next session will be on September 19. Students can register for a session here.

  3. Academic knowledge and practices aren't the only things you will learn from your graduate education. Professional skills and networking are also important to develop. The PACES program offers professional development opportunities for students, helping you increase your professionalism, academic advancement, communication, engagement, and success. Check out the PACES website for more information and the exciting sessions to come!

  4. The Graduate Student Association is hosting a New Graduate Student Welcome Picnic, on October 13. All new graduate students beginning in Fall 2023 are invited to attend and build relationships with like-minded individuals. Food will be provided. For more details, and to RSVP, visit the GSA's webpage here.

  5. GVSU students and employees are welcome to make use of the Evening Childcare Program offered at the David D. Hunting YMCA in downtown Grand Rapids. The service is offered Monday-Thursday, from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m. Additional information and registration can be found here.

  6. Graduate education can be intense and challenging for many students. Just know that you are not alone. The University Counseling Center offers a variety of services and workshops to address mental health concerns. For a summary of what is available at UCC, check out the article here.

Student Health Resources
