Suburban West Coat Drive a Success!

Each fall local Realtor® Associations coordinate volunteer activities in their communities through PAR's annual Realtors® Reach Out Month. As a part of this effort, Suburban West teamed up with the Boys & Girls Club of Philadelphia to hold a coat drive this Fall.
The Association is proud to announce that 70+ new coats were donated along with numerous sets of winter hats, gloves and scarves. Our sincerest thanks to all the members and offices who contributed to help make our annual coat drive a success!

Association Office Closed for Thanksgiving Holiday

Housing Discrimination is REAL - Take Time to Educate Yourself and Your Client

A three year investigation in Long Island, New York revealed evidence of widespread unequal treatment of individuals seeking housing. It is likely that there will be renewed efforts to enforce fair housing laws everywhere. Are you sure you are compliant? Are you giving Fair Housing the attention it deserves?
Fair housing is more than just knowing the law and the ‘protected classes’. Fair housing requires proactive attention and focused efforts to combat years of inequality, both blatant and disguised.
Increase your own and your client’s awareness of issues in Fair Housing by seeking out education. Here are some tools from SWRA and PAR to assist. Taking the time early in the relationship to explain the obligation of both agent and client will go a long way toward a successful and compliant relationship and transaction. Read more.

SFR: Help Maneuver the Complexities of Short Sales and Assist Buyers to Pursue These Opportunities

Knowing how to help sellers maneuver the complexities of short sales as well as help buyers pursue short sale and foreclosure opportunities are not merely good skills to have in today’s market—they are critical. And while short sales and foreclosures are not for the faint of heart, agents with the proper tools and training can use these specialty areas to build their business for the long term.
The one-day SFR: Short Sales and Foreclosures Certification Course (December 19th; 9:00am-5:00pm) will enable students to: differentiate between short sales and foreclosures, explain the process of a successful short sale transaction, guide clients who want to purchase short sale or foreclosed properties and much more! Counties Offer First-Time Homebuyer Programs

Local governments across the nation are beefing up programs aimed at helping people become homeowners. In return, they grow their tax bases, support the local economy and promote a sense of community. Bucks County officials are nearly doubling the money they devote to their program over the next five years. Philadelphia also expanded its housing assistance program, launching Philly First Home, and Chester County residents can look to the Housing Partnership of Chester County for first-time home buyer programs.
