Happy New Year!
I hope everyone was able to take time off over the holidays, be with family and friends, and get recharged for the new year. With new initiatives taking shape and construction rising from the ground, 2019 promises to be an exciting one. I look forward for what’s to come. Thank you all—in advance—for the great work I know you’ll be doing to support our students this year.
University Health, Counseling, and Testing Center Construction Continues
Construction at the UHCTC is ramping up and the landscape is starting to take new form. In December, the concrete pour of the slab was completed. Water was shut off in that area for part of Christmas week, which also affected water services to Oregon Hall. We expect construction will continue to impact that part of 13th Avenue, so I appreciate your patience and understanding as things move forward. During this time, please use caution when traveling around that area. Be aware of heavy equipment moving and use the north sidewalk in front of Oregon Hall to stay away from the construction site. The north entrance of the UHCTC is now closed. Please use the south entrance to access the building.
Ducks return January 7
Campus will be busy again, as students start classes on Monday, January 7. Let’s help them kick off the new year and winter term on the right foot. Let’s continue to help our students when they call upon us for our many services. And, if you see a lost student looking for their classroom or building, stop and offer them some guidance. There’s even a new feature on the Oregon App that maps their class schedules on their phones or at
myclassmap.uoregon.edu.
Winter Retreat
It was wonderful to see many of you at the SSEM Winter Retreat last month. I hope you were able to reconnect with colleagues and maybe make new acquaintances from other parts of the division. Thank you very much to all of those who could attend, and a very big thank you to those who helped pull the retreat together. I look forward to seeing all of you again at a future gathering.
