More Workforce Training Opportunities for Students

At Literacy Volunteers we are not only helping our students learn how to read, write, or speak English, we are also giving them the tools they need to succeed in the workplace. Obtaining specialized training, or certifications can help our students acquire higher-paying jobs to support themselves and their families. In 2018 we will offer several workforce training opportunities to our students.
Last year we began a pilot of the ServSafe Food Handler Program. This program provides safety training for anyone in the food service business. Four students have already successfully completed the program and received their Food Handler certifications. After completion, the students can also register for the Food Handler's Manager training.
New this year, we will be partnering with The Homeless Entrepreneur to offer a class for students who are interested in starting their own businesses. The class will help students develop the basic entrepreneurship skills needed to begin their own businesses. The first class will begin later this spring and will cost $20 for textbook and materials.
If you're interested in learning more about either of these programs you can contact Steven
