How I'm Tackling this Strange Semester

COVID-19 has stolen the spring 2020 semester from students everywhere. If you're a senior like Erica Fiori, it's an extra punch in the gut. However, despite the struggles the coronavirus has brought, from switching to online classes to missing out on on-campus experiences, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. These are the things Erica has been focusing on to finish the semester strong.

Virtual Clinical Training

The virus couldn't stop clinical training for many on the Health Sciences Campus. Nursing junior Natalie Patton says: "Dr. Zimmerman's recreation of SIM lab was amazing. And it was wonderful to work with more of my classmates than an in-person simulation would have provided."

So far we've donated more than 20,000 masks, tens of thousands of pairs of gloves and hundreds of gowns!

Go-to Resources:

Need help with end-of-semester research? UMKC librarians are always here to help! Join them virtually Monday, April 27, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. for spontaneous one-on-one research help. During the Research Rescue event, a librarian can help you find sources, assist with a citation and more.

Mental health resources: We checked in with Arnie Abels, Ph.D., director of UMKC Counseling, to ask him for ways to take care of our mental health during this difficult time. He pointed out some things to watch for and shared several resources for you to use.
