Dear Faculty, Administrators and Staff,
Please join us today for our Charter Day celebration, which will be held at 3 p.m. in the Event Room of the University Center.
Charter Day celebrates the founding of Seton Hall in 1856 and the granting of our charter by the New Jersey State legislature in 1861. It is a special annual opportunity to reflect on our history and purpose, our Catholic identity and mission.
This year's commemoration will include the presentation of the 2023 Bishop Bernard J. McQuaid Medal for Distinguished Service – awarded annually to long-serving employees for distinguished service and commitment to the University's mission – as well as the presentation of the 2023 President's Award for Student Service and recognition of our Servant Leader Scholars.

Office of International Programs |
In his second year at Seton Hall, Doug Cantelmo, interim director of international programs and program director, Rome Connection, will be honored this afternoon as a recipient of the President’s Award for Student Service. This award spotlights the tremendous work the entire study abroad team has achieved this past year and how impactful our global mission can be.
Alongside Doug are two incredible Study Abroad student workers who have truly transformed study abroad Seton Hall:
| Lauren Diawatan, Junior Areas of study: Economics, Philosophy, Political Science, Diplomacy and International Relations
Lauren has been instrumental in building out student resources hubs on the brand-new Study Abroad website, hosting weekly information and advising Sessions, updating Seton Hall’s first ever online study abroad portal and hosting the study abroad table at Open House and Pirate Preview.
| Emilia Fedasz, Freshman Areas of study: Finance, Management, Legal Studies and Global Affairs
Emilia has been an essential resource to prospective students and their families at Visit Days, responding to daily student inquiries and managing key aspects of Seton Hall’s Rome Connection program. She has also helped countless students apply to a study abroad scholarship that matches their unique journey.
Emilia and Lauren have gone above and beyond this past year helping Seton Hall build a far more prominent and supportive study abroad culture. Both will be studying abroad themselves this year, with Lauren heading off for Summer in Liverpool and Emilia taking part in Rome Connection. We are so grateful for their hard work and passion for international education.

A webinar presentation from Hanover Research, "Developing Budgets and Budget Narratives," offers helpful information for new grant writers to understand the lay of the land when working with the Office on a project. The presentation explores grant budget basics, key features of a strong grant budget, tips for budget development, common mistakes, and more. View the presentation.
