Word of mouth matters.

Did you know that 75% of our community is referred to Garbage to Garden through a friend? Like many of our subscribers, you may have found the insight of your friends and neighbors helpful, so we encourage you to share why you love Garbage to GardenDo you get a warm, fuzzy feeling when you compost? Do you save money on trash bags? Do you enjoy volunteering in exchange for free service? Do you look forward to receiving free compost delivered to your door each week for your garden? Whatever it is, we want to hear about it.

Expecting a snow day? We'll be there!
Here are a few tips to keep in mind when putting your GtG bucket on the curb this winter:
1. Even if there's a snow ban we will be collecting buckets on your pick up day, no matter what.* That said, snow can make our routes go a little slower than usual.
2. Be mindful of buried buckets. Our drivers have pretty good bucket vision, but if you can, wait until morning to put your bucket out.
3. Make your bucket a nest in the snow to  make sure your bucket doesn't tip over or blow away!
*Certain holidays excluded.
We love what we do.
On Wednesdays, we swap over 1,000 buckets on the East and West Ends of Portland. Mid morning, our Field Operators meet on the Easter Prom to transfer material and replenish clean buckets and lids.
Last Wednesday was no exception, except a fresh coat of snow covered the ground and the temperature was hovering around 20 degrees. We caught Doug (magnified, who didn't know this picture was being taken) grinning ear to ear. Team work is fun work. Do you want to join our team? We're hiring.
"As a recently-retired person, I am really enjoying learning about all these wonderful organizations, helping them with their work, and, hopefully, finding The One that will be a great fit for me.

The GtG volunteer program not only gives me a chance to work with a variety of organizations, but also to spend a little time with each one learning about their histories and missions. I LOVE IT!"
