APRIL VOLUNTEERING
Happy Spring, Volunteers!

Spring has sprung, and what better way to get outside and into your community than volunteering! Below you can find a list of new and ongoing volunteer opportunities for the month of April.

As always, to sign up for an event this month and receive a month of free Garbage to Garden service, RSVP by email, and we will help answer any questions you may have. Then simply send confirmation of your volunteer hours to volunteer@garbagetogarden.org to receive credit. Remember, events are first come, first served.

Happy Composting,

Help us bag compost!

Spring has arrived and we need extra hands with bagging compost!
Hours can be scheduled for Wednesdays between 9am and 12 pm at our shop in Portland. Come lend a hand for 1.5 hours in exchange for one month of free service!

Maine Audubon
Maine Audubon envisions a world where everyone can experience the diversity and wonders of nature, and where science-based education and advocacy ensure the protection and deep appreciation of Maine's wildlife and wildlife habitat. Spring and summer are especially busy times at Maine Audubon!

To get involved with one of your community science or conservation-related projects, contact Hannah Young: hyoung@maineaudubon.org

Yarmouth Community Garden
The Yarmouth Community Garden always needs and welcomes volunteers. If you’d like to dig in and join us, we’d love to have you. Everyone is welcome- no gardening experience is needed!
Volunteering Opportunities:
-In April and early May, we need a hand getting the garden ready for plots and planting.
-Around Memorial Day, we need lots of help planting seeds and seedlings in the community plot and children’s garden.
-We appreciate any help from 8 AM-noon on our Tuesday, and Saturday morning work-days to harvest and prepare produce for delivery, along with plot maintenance, weeding, and various other chores in the community plot and children’s garden.
-Lots of non-gardening help is needed, too: mowing, carpentry, painting, artistic talent, fundraising and Harvest Dinner auction help.
-Through the growing season, we always need help with weed management, mulching and extra hand watering.

Email Denise or Wendy to sign up!
Growing to Give
Growing to Give is a certified organic farm in Brunswick where we grow vegetables using climate-friendly methods and donate them to local people struggling with food insecurity through our food access partners. In 2021 we donated over 16,000 lb of produce to those most in need. Volunteers are the backbone of our operation. We welcome all kinds of volunteers - regulars, one-timers, and everything in between--no gardening experience required.
The 2022 growing season is underway, and the farm is buzzing with activity! If you are interested in volunteering, please check out our volunteer opportunities on the Growing to Give website and submit the new volunteer application form. We ask volunteers to sign up in advance for two-hour work sessions.
If you have questions, please email Cathy.
Come spend some time outside in a beautiful location while helping your community!
