Hello TIA Supporter,
It's election year. Time to get educated.
Do candidates and elected officials know about the flawed government accounting issue?
Do they know but don't care?
Today, I want to discuss one reason why I think some elected officials ignore government accounting flaws, focusing on those aware of the issue rather than those uninformed.
Here it goes.....
When faced with the actual numbers, they are so bad it may cost elected officials votes. As evidenced by a Florida state representative's response when told that using a higher, more transparent accounting technique would expose more of Florida's cities as in debt, she said, "They aren't going to want to go with that."
Isn't admitting there is a problem the first part of the solution?
Suffice it to say, if your local government can't manage the tax dollars properly, your services get cut, or your taxes go up.
We need everyone to be fully informed voters.
This is why we produce our reports to educate and empower you with the financial information the government won't give you.
