In Case You Missed It

Walk-Up Vaccination Available

Free COVID-19 vaccines are available to all UC San Diego students, faculty and staff at RIMAC—no appointment necessary. We are asking that everyone in our Triton community get fully vaccinated by June 1, 2021; the vaccination station will permanently close the following day. Please bring your campus ID.

Campus Masking Policy Update

Fully vaccinated, and in some instances unvaccinated, individuals are no longer required to wear masks in certain outdoor settings and situations. As the virus spreads more easily indoors, everyone, regardless of vaccination status, is required to mask in indoor settings except for one's primary residence. See more details and exceptions.

Density Restrictions Removed for Research

On-site research activities will no longer be limited by density restrictions (e.g. the current restriction to 50% of total lab personnel allowed on-site at one time). Instead, all research groups must comply with CDC and campus guidelines regarding maintaining six feet of physical distancing, use of face masks and other safety protocols.

Research Volunteers

Research volunteers are now allowed on-site and must be added to approved Research Ramp-up plans. Everyone must adhere to campus and lab safety requirements. Volunteers not affiliated with UC San Diego must be vaccinated and verified with the principal investigator. Prioritization of volunteers are: UC San Diego students; students from other universities; minors 16 years or older; and non-student volunteers.

Your Questions Answered

Question: Have any COVID-19 vaccines been authorized to include children?
Answer: On May 10, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) expanded the emergency use authorization of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine to include adolescents 12 through 15 years of age. Please review the FDA’s news release for full details.
Question: If I have been fully vaccinated, do I need to wear a mask to visit others?
Answer: As defined in the CDPH Fully Vaccinated Persons Guidance, fully vaccinated people are permitted to visit, without wearing masks or physical distancing, with other fully vaccinated people in indoor or outdoor settings. Fully vaccinated people are also permitted to visit, without wearing masks or physical distancing, with unvaccinated people (including children) from a single household who are at low risk for severe COVID-19 disease in indoor and outdoor settings.
Question: Can food and drinks be served or consumed at university events during Spring Quarter?
Answer: Food and beverages are not permitted to be consumed at events, except for water, which may be consumed when individuals are physically distanced. Pre-packaged food or beverage can be provided at distribution events as long as the items are consumed off-site.
