Patia's dedication and hard work allows therapists to focus fully on the children's needs. And they'll tell you she is the "fairy godmother of camp".
Patia is fond of saying, "It's the miracles that keep me coming back."
Patia recalled a camper from the second year she volunteered at Camp Phoenix. He had been very shy and barely talked the summer before.
"I was setting up bubbles for an activity, and this young man came running up to me with a huge smile on his face saying, 'I remember you! You were here last year. Can I help you make bubbles?' I immediately said "yes," of course. I told him I was going to go grab something in the cabin real quick and I’d be right back..."
