Operation HOPE Leads Effort to Create Financial Literacy Culture in America with Walmart, Disney, NBA, NFL, and Others with the Launch of Financial Literacy for All

Today, a prominent group of business, sports, entertainment, and nonprofit leaders from organizations including Disney, Walmart, NFL, NBA, Bank of America, Walgreens, BlackRock, Delta Air Lines, and Khan Academy join Operation HOPE in announcing the start of a new initiative, Financial Literacy for All (FL4A), a collaborative effort aimed at embedding financial literacy into the fabric of American culture.

Co-chaired by Operation HOPE Chair and CEO John Hope Bryant and Walmart CEO Doug McMillon, the growing group of corporate leaders will lead a 10-year effort to reach millions of youth and working adults enabling them to achieve greater financial success for themselves and their families.

The group of leaders initially engaged in this effort includes Doug McMillon, CEO of Walmart; Bob Chapek, CEO of The Walt Disney Company; Brian Moynihan, CEO, Bank of America; Rosalind Brewer, CEO of Walgreens; Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock; Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta Air Lines; Roger Goodell, Commissioner of NFL; Adam Silver, Commissioner of NBA; Sal Khan, Founder and CEO of the Khan Academy; Tony Ressler, Executive Chair of Ares Management and Principal Owner of the Atlanta Hawks; and John Hope Bryant, Chair and CEO of Operation HOPE.

The effort comes amidst the growing wealth disparity among Americans and the damaging long-term effects that the lack of financial literacy has on individuals' and families' financial futures. Through a series of programs targeting working adults and students ranging in age from middle school to university-level, Financial Literacy for All is working to create a cultural and generational shift in our relationship and understanding of money.

As arguably one of the most defining civil rights issues of our time, the need for financial literacy advocacy is greater than ever. Financial Literacy for All is a broad-based, collaborative effort and welcomes the support, partnership, and participation of like-minded leaders and organization.
