Honors College Drop-in Advising in best - no RSVP required! Join us Wednesday, April 5th from 3-5pm in the Honors College office for in-person advising hours. Students may bring questions about their upcoming registration, Honors College classes and requirements, or general questions that may be answered by any advisor.
Please note that all meetings will be 15 minutes or less. For issues that require a longer meeting time, you should schedule a standard appointment with your Honors College specific advisor or major advisor.

This is your opportunity to have a say in electing the students who represent you and your voice to the administration. Join Todd Stafford and Other Honors College Students for a Morning Hike in Shenandoah National Park |
Richard Todd Stafford, the director of communications in the Honors College, will be leading a 2.3 mile hike at Compton Peak in Shenandoah National Park. Join the adventure and spend some quality time with you fellow Honors College peers while enjoying the beautiful park views.
Schedule:
Leave campus at 8:15am Arrive to hiking location around 10am
Hike to Compton Peak (about 3 hours of hiking plus 30 mins for lunch)
Return to campus by 4:15pm
Pack and bring your own lunch plus plenty of water (at least two bottles of water).
Transportation and light snacks will be provided.

Visit Scholar Dr. Martijn Icks' Lectures on Character Assassination | Honors College student Zayd Hamid works with the Character Assassination and Reputation Politics Research Lab and shared this event with us.
Martijn Icks is a professor at the University of Amsterdam. Most of his research is focused on the time of the Roman Empire. Among other things, his research interests include the representation and perception of imperial power, Roman art and coinage, imperial rituals, gender, and reception studies. He also has a keen interest in character assassination as an historical and cross-cultural phenomenon. Dr. Martijn Icks will deliver the following lectures at Mason (Fairfax):

Get involved in the community with Honors College Connects | HNRS 261 Honors College Connects (HCC) HNRS 261 MW 12:00pm - 1:15pm.
In this course, students contribute to the work of local nonprofits addressing health, social justice, environmental, and other challenges. Students work in multi-disciplinary teams and are mentored by student alums of the program. Through HCC, students build professional skills while making a real impact in the community beyond Mason. Even if you’ve taken another HNRS 260 or 261, you may take this course for additional elective credit.

Volunteer with a Non-Profit: Kids Enjoy Excercise Now (KEEN) |
Get involved with KEEN Greater DC, a non-profit organization that provides exercise and activities to youth with disabilities free of charge. This organization looks for a sufficient amount of long-term volunteers so that they can provide one-on-one sessions with each student.
This opportunity is for individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of children and adults with disabilities in the great D.C area. Volunteers will gain valuable experience working with individuals with disabilities and learning about adaptive sports.

Groundwork for Grad School Workshops |
Groundwork for Grad School is an all-day event designed to help undergrads navigate the process of applying to grad school. Participants can choose to attend breakout sessions on topics including writing personal statements, paying for grad school, and more.
There is no cost to attend and breakfast and lunch will be provided! Email the Office of Fellowships with any questions. Spaces are limited, register soon!

Sessions will include information about the: Rhodes Scholarship, Marshall Scholarship, Mitchell Scholarship, and the Gates-Cambridge Scholarship.

Please note the Rhodes, Marshall, and Mitchell Scholarships are only available to U.S. citizens. Many of these awards require Mason nominations. Applicants must email the Office of Fellowships by June 1.

April 11th is first day that you can register for Fall 2023 classes. During this time, advising appointments are reduced to 20 minutes, and topics to be discussed will only include: scheduling for Summer and Fall 2023; initial planning for study abroad (if applicable); and questions about Honors College courses (for example, how many courses do I have left?). We recommend that you schedule an appointment with your Honors College and major/minor advisor as soon as possible, as available time slots will fill up quickly. Instructions on how to schedule an appointment with your Honors advisor can be found at the bottom of this page. To locate your major advisor, please use the Mason Advisor Locator tool.
