Before we dive into the latest news, we need to tell you about Denny Nugent's early retirement from Moody Radio in Chicago. Here's a synopsis of his career. Mr. Nugent began in radio at age 15 in July 1967 at WTCJ in Tell City. He did evenings. While in college (Indiana University), Mr. Nugent worked for WTCJ, WHON (Richmond) and for WTTS in Bloomington. After graduation, he moved to Richmond (WHON), becoming PD. Then it was off to Columbus, Ohio (WRFT, WTVN), Louisville, Kentucky (WHAS), Cincinnati (WKRC), Phoenix, Arizona (KOY), Cleveland (WGAR) then Moody Radio, where he became National PD in 2004.

First Family Broadcasting's Standards/WERT (1220am, Van Wert, Ohio), is also heard on W282CF (104.3fm, Van Wert, Ohio). A lightning strike damaged the AM side, forcing it off the air for several days.

Days after announcing he stopped cancer treatments, 58 year old radio host Matt Patrick passed away on Sunday. Mr. Patrick once hosted mornings at Federated Media's WTRC. Born Michael Patrick Ryan, he began his broadcasting career in Ohio in 1980 at age 22. There will be a memorial service in Houston and additional services to be announced. New Castle Broadcasting Service, Inc. LPFM WHHC-LP (107.5fm, New Castle) finishes their move from 107.5fm to 100.1fm. The move took place in late June.

Alpha Media's Urban/WGZB (96.5fm, Lanesville) afternoon host Lashonda Hatch ("Tropikana") exits and joins Radio One in St. Louis, Missouri. There, "Tropikana" became MD and afternoons at Radio One's Urban/WHHL (104.1fm).
Southwest
Where Are They Now? Former WTVW-TV sports anchor and reporter Lon Tegels joins KJNB-TV (Jonesboro, Arkansas) and WNBJ-TV (Jackson, Tennessee) as their News Director.

July 9: In 2004, Indianapolis' WGRL (93.9fm) relaunches with a religious format as "The Song."
July 10: In 1983, Farm Director Jay Gould left WOWO Radio (1190am, Fort Wayne). Mr. Gould passed away in 1984.
July 15: In 1955, Channel 16 in South Bend signs on as WNDU-TV, owned by The University of Notre Dame. In 1974, Angola's WLKI signs on at 100.1fm. It's now on 100.3fm. In 1999, 92.9fm in Veedersburg signs on as WSKL.
