Make Your Direct Mail Envelopes An "Open" Invitation
by Bill Tilley, Newhouse Associate
They say to never judge a book by its cover, but they never say anything about judging your mail. In today's world, if a mailing doesn't look familiar, exciting or inviting it runs the risk of being quickly discarded. That determination is often made with a glance of an envelope. Every day, companies send out beautifully constructed marketing pieces in the plainest of envelopes. Why put in the effort and not use the envelope to create a brilliant first impressions? Inspired by a Printing Hub article, we thought we would take a look at some examples of creative envelopes.
Newhouse designed the above envelopes for a client's bank statements that does double duty by personalizing to the target's financial needs. The red envelope below enclosed our 2014 Christmas card to make it stand out against all the white ones. The brown envelope shows the use of space as an extension of their brand. And the third one displays a clever play on the window envelope used by a window cleaning company. We'd love to help you get more creative!
