Good Evening,
Thank you for your responses to last Thursday's IRW. It would be wonderful to hear from more of you!
From the Reading Pile: How (newspaper) publishers are cutting print days — and not losing (too many) subscribers.
Remember our "Radio Spotlight" interview section? It's a Q&A section, where we interview a current or former Hoosier broadcaster. I'm going to expand this to TV. If you'd like a chance on the metaphorical hot seat, please drop us a line.

Kaitlyn Kendall earns a promotion to weekday evening co-anchor and lead investigative reporter role with Quincy Media's ABC affiliate/WPTA (Channel 21.1, Fort Wayne). Ms. Kendall most recently worked for Quincy sister station "Fort Wayne's NBC" (WPTA puts NBC on the .2 sub-channel). There, she was a weekend anchor, and reported in the field for both stations. Ms. Kendall joined Quincy Media/Fort Wayne in 2018 and is a proud University of Indianapolis graduate (with highest honors).
When Kayla Stewart returns from maternity leave, she will move from weekend news anchoring on ABC21 to co-anchoring the morning shift 'ABC21 Morning News' and anchoring 'ABC21 News at Noon.' Ms. Stewart succeeds Emily Dwire who recently left ABC21. Ms. Stewart joined ABC21 in 2017 and graduated from what was then IPFW (now PFW).

Nexstar's CW affiliate/WISH-TV (Channel 8, Indianapolis) promotes Nina Cirscuolo fill-in anchor to weekend evening anchor, while she continues reporting for the station.
Today, The Bob and Tom Show, based at iHeart's Classic Rock/WFBQ (94.7fm, Indianapolis) adds a new Chicago affiliate. WKQX-HD2 (97.9fm-HD2) began airing the show this morning from 5am until 10am, Central Time.

Sarkes Tarzian makes several Bloomington moves:
First up, their N-T/WGCL (1370am, Bloomington) added an FM signal about a decade ago; first at 95.9fm (W240AT) then at 96.1fm (W241CD).
Recently, WGCL moved to a different translator at 98.7fm: W254DP. This 250 watt translator is on the same tower as the 96.1fm translator (on South Tarzian Lane). Also, WGCL makes several programming changes:
In mornings, they will air the syndicated Hugh Hewitt Show from 6am until 9am. That's because morning host Mike Glasscott moves to afternoons ("Glass in the Afternoons") from 3pm until 6pm, replacing the syndicated Sean Hannity.
Sarkes Tarzian launched a new format on 96.1fm and that's because their AAA/WTTS added an HD2 subchannel. This new subchannel does a rock format and the 96.1fm translator simulcasts. "The Quarry" ("Where Bloomington Rocks") is a tribute to the beautiful limestone quarries in Bloomington and southern Indiana. Here's the airstaff lineup:
Mornings: JD and Bridget (6am until 10am)
Middays: McKenzie Rae (10am until 3pm)
Afternoons: Dan Mitchell (3pm until 8pm)
Nights: Tony Scott (8pm until 1am)
Overnights: Carl Russo (am until 6am)
Bloomington Community Radio's Variety/WFHB (91.3fm, Bloomington) and their 3 FM translators welcome back Harrison Wagner as their Assistant News Director. Mr. Wagner once worked as a news volunteer at WFHB.

For over 30 years, 'Sandman' was rock radio in Evansville, holding court daily on WGBF-FM (103, Evansville). Sandman recently had a stroke and died last week. After graduating from Wabash Valley Community College, Michael Sanders ("Sandpa" to his grandchild) began his broadcasting career. WGBF remembered him, as did the Courier & Press, 44News, and 14 WFIE.
Another death in Evansville radio as former WIKY (104.1fm, Evansville) GM Charlie Blake recently died at age 92. The IBA once named him 'Broadcaster of the Year'. WIKY has audio from their morning show, where former WIKY owner John David Englebrecht shares his memories of Charlie.
